Dewey L Peek

Mr. Dewey Lane Peek, age 86, passed away at his home on August 26, 2026. He was born March 22, 1940, in Cherokee County, AL to RB and Venice Mobley Peek. 

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jeff Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens with full firefighter honors. His family will be receiving friends from 11 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.  

Survivors include his wife, Eleanora Hansard Peek; daughter, Teresa (Stan) Rogers; sons, Darren (Susan) Peek and Richard (Amy) Peek; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; sister-in-law, Juanita Hansard Peek; and brother, Bryant Peek. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, RB and Venice Peek; a baby sister, Sara Jo Peek; brothers, Wayne and Sammy Peek; and one half brother, Emory Lee. 

Pallbearers include Ross Peek, Sean Peek, Larry Peek, Glenn Peek, Sam Tierce, Rich Lindsey, Aaron Andrews, Michael Peek, and Danny Walker.  

Dewey grew up as a "country boy" who loved fishing and hunting, and more fishing. He worked for many years as a carpenter, but he preferred earning money by "playing" with his farm tractor and his beloved backhoe.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Spring Creek Fire Department at 6420 County Road 22, Centre, AL 35960.
