Mr. Gains Walden Smith, age 83 of Centre, passed away on November 9, 2025, at his residence. 

Per Mr. Smith's request, there will be no services. 

He is survived by his son, Broderick Smith; Daughter, Chole Brooks; Grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Whaley, Cory (Ellie) Smith, Matthew (Allison) Smith, Drake Wilbanks, and Ambria Sparks; Brother, Winston (Carolyn) Smith.

A host of great-grandchildren also survive. 

Gains was born in Centre, AL to the late Joseph "Cricket" Smith and Ruby Hampton. He worked in construction for years, but was better known as the "Peanut Man" for his famous boiled peanuts. His kind smile and warm spirit will be heavily missed by his family and many friends made over the years.
