Mrs. Glenda Inez Hunter, age 66 of Centre, passed away on September 20, 2026, at Atrium Health Floyd Cherokee.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Her family will be receiving friends from 11 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer (Reggie Woods) Hunter; sons, Chris and David Hunter; grandchildren, Kyonna Dupree, Michaila Hunter, Madison Hunter, and Chase Hunter; sisters, Darlene (Alan) Hale and Wanda (Lester) McDaniel; special cousins, Paula and Lisa Daniel. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers are Reggie Woods, Isaiah White, Logan McDaniel, Chris Hunter, Chase Hunter, and Jason Hunter.

Glenda was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and so much more. To many people who came into her life, she was simply known as "Nana." Family friends loved her as if she were their own grandmother and she welcomed everyone with the same kindness and love. There was never a dull moment with Nana. Whenever she walked into a room, she lit it up with her presence because that was simply who she was. She was always there to offer a shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold, or a listening ear whenever someone needed to talk. So many people looked to her as a grandmother, a sister, and a source of comfort and support. Those blessed enough to experience Nana's presence were truly lucky. Her love touched countless lives and her memory will continue to live on in everyone who knew her. We are grateful for the years we were given with her, even though our hearts are heavy with her passing. Nana longed to be reunited with her first baby, Tracie. After Tracie passed away, Nana carried a deep pain in her heart, but she continued to fight for the people who loved her. She held on for as long as she could, giving strength and love to everyone around her. Today, we mourn the loss of a beloved mother, nana, sister, friend, cousin, and so much more. Although she is no longer with us, Glenda's love, laughter, strength, and beautiful spirit will remain in our hearts forever. 'Til we meet again, our beautiful angel!

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Edna Crane Barnes; daughter, Tracie Dupree; son, Jonathon Lee Hunter; and brother, Donald Barnes.
