Mr. James Dewayne "Wayne" Bobo, age 68 of Gadsden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 17, 2026, at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Black Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Black Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Bobo; mother, Ruby Bobo; children, Carla (Steve) West, Brian Bobo, Chris (Tammy) Frost, and Traci (Billy Wayne) Clanton; grandchildren, Bryant West and Krislyn (Brandon) Green; special great grandchildren who were his joy, Wrenleigh and Ashtyn; sisters-in-law, Sherri (Kenneth) Ragan and Debra (Joe) Conley; several special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Michael West; and several chosen grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryant West, Brandon Green, Evan Conley, Dylan Duncan, Drew Yates, Connor Jordan, and Billy Wayne Clanton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Moon, Kenneth Ragan, Wayne White, Michael West, and Joe Conley.

Wayne was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He retired from the Etowah County Road Dept. after 27 years. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories and making lifelong memories with his loved ones. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Amy-Diane Bobo and Crystal Patterson; sister, Theresa Bobo; father J.W. "Bo" Bobo; grandparents, Uye and Gartrell Bobo, Margret and Luther White; and mother and father-in-law, Roy and Elaine Brown.
