John Douglas "Doug" Hinton

Mr. John "Doug" Hinton, age 62 of Rock Run, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after several months of illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28th, 2025 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Pollard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Union Grove Cemetery in Rock Run. 

He is survived by several cousins, friends, and his beloved dogs, Buddy and Dot.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. B. Hinton, Jr.; mother, Betty LeCroy Hinton Morrison; brother, David Hinton; sister, Diane Hinton Nicholson; aunt, Margaret Ann "Poochie" Hinton; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown (Estelle) Hinton, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Will (Eliza) LeCroy. 

Pallbearers are Johnny Angle, Glenn Buttram, David Highfield, Jamey Hill, Jesse McKnight, and Jeff Rhinehart. 

Doug was of the Baptist faith and an avid Alabama fan. To observe him watching an Alabama game was a real treat to witness! He enjoyed his garden, riding his motorcycle, and watching NASCAR races. Doug was a carpenter and did various types of construction.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to your favorite animal rescue in his memory as he loved his animals so very much.
