Rev. Herman Michael Manning

Rev. Herman Michael Manning, age 79 of Cedar Bluff, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Manning and Rev. Eddie Nation officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Oaknoll Memorial Garden in Rome, GA.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Gwen Smith Manning; sons, Rev. Richard Manning of Cedar Bluff and James Manning of Cedartown, GA; his much loved grandchildren, Bennett and Bear Manning of Lindale, GA; a chosen son, Ed Chambers of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Richie Smith; several nieces and nephews; and a lot of special friends.

Mr. Manning was born in Rome, GA to Rev. Herman and Dorothy Bing Manning on August 7, 1946. He worked for the State of Georgia for 20+ years. He was a minister for over 45 years. He pastored Alexis Baptist Church in Centre, AL, Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Rome, GA, Wax Baptist Church in Silver Creek, GA, and Friendship Baptist Church in Centre, AL. Mr. Manning taught Bible Study at Pine Grove Baptist Church and at First Baptist Church in Centre, AL, for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Centre.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Jean Manning; and his parents, Herman and Dorothy Manning.
