Mr. Robert "Blake" Sherrod, age 42 of Centre, AL, got his healing on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by his family.
A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, February 7, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tracy Hutcheson and Pastor Eddie Nation officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Friday, February 6, at the funeral home.
Blake lived every single day with unrelenting and unwavering faith in his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Even in his most difficult times of suffering, Blake never lost hope. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Sherrod, and both sets of grandparents.
He is survived by his loving mother, Sherry (Don) Stinson; sister, Casey (Fabian) Dragojlovic; special niece, Ali Dragojlovic; special aunt and uncles, Lisa and Jimbo Weaver, Tony and Karen Stinson; special cousins, Nathan Weaver and Warren Wallace; loving caregiver and friend, Terry Mackey; special friend and neighbor, Adrian Rogers; his loving cat, Lily; several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and fishing buddies.
Pallbearers are Donnie Weaver, Brad Weaver, Kevin Weaver, Adam Weaver, Clay Garrison, and Christopher Bias.
Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Barton Perry, Warren Wallace, Nathan Weaver, Wayne Lindsey, Cliff Williams, McConnell "Big Mac" Murphy, and Brett Stinson.
Blake's family would like to extend special thanks to his nurse, Amanda Johnson, and his aide, Julie Gibbs, at SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, as well as the many family and friends he made through the International Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Association (IFOPA) and Doctor Fred Kaplan for the support and love they have shown.
Blake was an avid fisherman, golfer, pool player, deer and turkey hunter. He loved watching football, especially Alabama, and also loved watching basketball and tennis. Blake's faith and determination was such a testimony to so many people. He never let disease define him and would not allow anyone to speak anything negative in his presence. God gave us 41 good years with Blake, which is a miracle in itself.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to help cover medical and funeral expenses, which can be sent to 11251 US Highway 411 N., Centre, AL 35960. They are respectfully requesting no house plants at this time.
