Shirley Ann Battles

Mrs. Shirley Ann Battles, age 89 of Cedar Bluff, passed away on December 16, 2025 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Longshore Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Jack "Jackie" Battles (Michelle) and James Hoyt Battles, Jr.; special daughter, Darlene Battles; grandchildren, Kyle Battles (Rachel), Brianna Battles Nance (Zac), Tanner Battles, Jordan Battles, Dallas Hulsey, and Timothy "Bubba" Husley; and many great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Buck Crawford, Kyle Battles, Zac Nance, Blake Fennell, Joey Simpson and Jordan Battles.

Mrs. Battles was a long-time member of Big Rock Congregational Holiness Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved God and her grandchildren, and spent most of her time studying the Bible. Before she was unable to do so, she enjoyed working outside and tending to her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hoyt Battles, Sr., son, James Michael Battles; daughter, Joy Gault; granddaughter, Kaci Hulsey; sister, Frances Blake; and brother, Owen Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Rock Congregational Holiness Church.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
