Tracy Oakes

Ms. Tracy Oakes, age 65 of Centre, passed away on December 16, 2025 at Cherokee County Health and Rehab. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Bro. Tracy Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hardeman Cemetery.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Joyce Earwood Waits Comer and Grant Comer of Centre; sister, Tina Waits of Gainsville, GA; brothers, Todd M. Waits of Centre, and Timothy D. Waits of Gaylesville; daughter, Kristina Davis; son, Kevin (Jessie) Oakes; grandchildren, Gage (Heaven) Davis, Kaitlinn Lott, Joshua Lott, Josie Lott, Aubree Oakes, and Anslee Grace Oakes; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Oakes, Gage Davis, Jason Garrett, Davis Pagan, Luke Richardson and Dalton Waits. Honorary pallbearer will be Grant Comer.

We remember Tracy as our beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother whose life was filled with love. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy in their laughter and presence. She cared deeply for her patients, offering them compassion and comfort. And she had a faithful companion in her beloved Yellow Dog, who brought her peace and happiness. She gave love freely, and she received love in return. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the people she cared for, and in the joy she shared. We will miss her dearly, but her beautiful spirit will always remain with us.

She is preceded in death by her father, Spencer M. Waits; and grandparents, L.D. and Mildred Waits, and Alvin J. and Ruby V. Earwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Fair Haven Baptist Church for Hardeman Cemetery Fund and can be mailed ATTN: Susan Duke, 815 County Road 745, Cedar Bluff, AL 35959.
