Virgil E Umphrey

Mr. Virgil E. Umphrey, age 68 of Sand Rock, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Noles officiating. The family will be receiving friends Monday from 2 until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Survivors include his sons, Eugene (Joyce) Umphrey, Michael (Tiffany) Umphrey, and Andrew (Jennifer) Umphrey; Granddaughter, Thea Umphrey; Sister Lucille Dodd; Brothers, Steve Umphrey and Randy Umphrey; Father-In-Law, Carl Patterson; Sister in Law Rhonda Patterson; Numerous cousins also survive.

Mr. Umphrey was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Orvil and Beatrice Rebecca Neighbors Umphrey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Umphrey, Brother, James Umphrey, and sister Shirley McGatha.

He was an avid fisherman, loved to work on boats, and loved being outside "piddling" around the yard.
